King Crimson - Full Show (The Noise - Live At Fréjus 1982)

The reformed King Crimson of 1981 emerged as a completely distinct entity from its late '60s/early '70s incarnation. Notably, Adrian Belew (vocals/guitar) and Tony Levin (bass) joined the ranks alongside previous members Bill Bruford (drums) and the leader/founder Robert Fripp (guitar). While the band retained its musical unpredictability, their fresh sound and approach deviated significantly from their original progressive direction. With two albums released under this new lineup (1981's Discipline and Beat), King Crimson embarked on a tour that led to the creation of their first home video, 'The Noise: Live at Fréjus.' Initially recorded in August of '82 at the Arena in France, this video remained largely unseen until its reissue by DGM in 1997. However, it serves as an exceptional visual testament to the '80s-era King Crimson. Now available both as a full concert and as individual clips exclusively on the official King Crimson YouTube channel.

When you have multiple musicians who are incredibly talented, the risk of having them try to outdo one another is high. However when you get the right kind of musicians who don't try and hog the spotlight it's a rare and magical thing to see. This is a perfect example of talent not outshining one another.

All I can say is when first heard "21st century sczoid man " I was blown away! I'm a musician myself and think I have discerning taste. These guys are so in sync with each other that it's close to perfection. (Think Pink Floyd, Yes, Jethro Tull and a few others in this genre). Man what a performance!

These guys are so good there is no room for them at the Corporate Rock 'n Roll Hall of fame, but a bunch off fluff artists get in every year.

I always wanted to see KC, I was only 6 when this concert was filmed. I discovered them when they reformed as the deadly double trio and released Thrak, what a sonic experience!!! Being a drummer I had to meet Bruford, it just so happened that in 2007 he was giving limited engagement drum tutorials, met him in Toronto, what an absolute humble genius. How he spoke of percussion only elevated my playing until I met Danny a year later in a small bar in Detroit touring with Volto! One would not think that he would let just anyone sit next to him while he had his arms dipped in a bucket of ice water, we talked everything from the love of Lamborghinis, ( he had one) to UFO’s, basketball, to the need to stay humble. People may talk negatively about Tool, but they are without a doubt the greatest rock band of all time.

I saw KC at the Greek Theater in August 1982 when I was 16... watching this brings tears to my eyes. This lineup in particular was easily one of the most innovative musical ensembles of all time.

Pound for pound, 1980s Crimson is the most talented rock band ever.

I was in college in the mid eighties and I can’t even guess how many times my friends and I, stoned out of minds, must have watched this.

This is my first time watching it again in well over a decade.

My returning face is smiling.

Very excited to attend Beat at Keswick theatre in Glenside, PA. Stay healthy and safe and wishing you success with this tour😊😊

. . .when King Crimson moved from being a band to a musical ensemble . . . timeless perfection, still completely relevant today!

I attended, what i believe, was the first concert after they reformed. For the first tour, briefly, the band was called Discipline. At the first concert they were supported by an amazing jazz outfit called the Lounge Lizards. The first concert was at Keele University in the UK, and then onto Oxford Polytechnic (as it was called then), and then Guildford Town Hall. Great memories, great video, brings it all back!

Belew and his friends are truly geniuses. Very technical, enchanting music, so full of emotions. What an achievement! I will never get enough of it.

I bought this on VHS from a second hand website. I talked to the seller about KC on the phone for about half an hour. Then I watched it at home and it blew my mind. Still one of my favorite concerts of all time. A huge influence.

23:48 The best moment is when Bill Bruford apparently thinks, this isn't a good drum sound and spontaneously changes the sound. 😂💀
