As a Bears fan I say it looks like he thought about avoiding the defender, he stopped 2 yards from the sideline. He could have stepped or slided out of bounds. He clearly got hit at the hip so he should stop crying about it.

Even if Caleb kept running to the sideline he would’ve gotten hit and rightfully so because he was still in bounds but the moment he stopped his feet in an attempt to make the defender fly by the hit was super legal and didn’t look malicious

Second, he never was hit in his knee, the helmet rocked his upper thigh.
