The MILL MEECE steam pumping station car show

For our first visit to the classic car show at Mill Meece Pumping Station we dusted down the V8 Pilot, packed our sandwiches, and plotted out a route to Staffordshire taking in A and B roads for the journey.
The Mill Meece Pumping Station, powered by steam pumps since the early 1900s, holds a number of vehicle events throughout the year in addition to the demonstration days they have for their working water pumps.
In this video we head over there in the Pilot, have a tour and demonstration of the magnificent steam pumps themselves, and generally have a very enjoyable day as classic cars and motorcycles come and go. One highlight was a group of pre-war Alvis motor-cars popping in for a cuppa in the on-site cafe. Another was the fantastic vintage Chalmers, bodied as a speedster-type car. All being well we'll try and visit this gathering again.

Thanks for the education on the huge steam engine pumps. As you showed the equipment my mind went to, "How many gallons of polish do they go through each year to keep the brass and copper shiny?" Those models are also amazing in their detail. I remember stories of a manager at a company I worked for that would write out work orders for the shop to make parts for his scale steam locomotive. He almost had it finished when the owner got drift of it and fired him on the spot. The workers always knew what and who they were for because they looked nothing like the parts they made every day!

All the while I was looking at those beautiful steam pumps I was thinking of Fred Dibnah explaining to his viewers how it all worked. I think the Gent did a good job too. A good deal of skill goes into those scale models as well. A good variety of cars and some commercials at this event . Some of those motorbikes were a sight to see, wonderful. Fabulous engineering, including the amazing scale models. Such a contrast to today's digitised, plastic, throw-away stuff that will never last as long. Loved the two stately Rover P4s and the Chalmers - what a beast! Thanks for a thoroughly enjoyable video!

I think I read somewhere that late registered Maestro’s like that N reg one were very often CKD kits that were re imported and built up well after production had stopped, I might be wrong. That Marina had the same coloured interior as my 74 registered Tundra Green first car, I can remember the smell of that high quality vinyl well !😮
