I regret buying this collection, I've had the fatal error crash from a long time ago. Microsoft devs couldn't fix it. I've tried your suggestion and didn't work either. It happens with Halo 2, I start a campaign and instantly crashes.

everyone if this doesnt work for you try turning on compatibility mode idk how but it fixed mcc for me

Thanks for this super clear info on how to fix teh problem. How typical that a 'movie' of the Microsoft XBox log and game developer breaks the game before you can even log in.

it was working for a while. then all of a sudden midgame it just stopped. ever since its never been able to even start up

If you have this issue, Try verifying your game installation by right clicking the Halo: Master Chief Collection in your Steam Library's game list, Select "Properties", then select "Installed Files", then "Verify integrity of game files".

It still crashes for me, I boot up the game and instantly even after doing these steps, I don’t know what else to do :(

I started experiencing crashing issues on Halo 2 Anniversary, crashes when trying to load Delta Halo. All levels before it worked fine up until that point. Gonna see if this can work.

I'm interested in how you were able to pinpoint which file to delete. Was there a stack trace you analyzed? Why did you delete that movie file when nothing pointed you there? We can delete files and set different settings all day but if you don't have anything to backup why you did what you did, please let's not make a problem worse by GUESSING.
