The Magnus Carlsen Invitational sees 8 of the world's best players compete online on the chess24 Playzone for a $250,000 prize fund, with $70,000 for 1st place. It begins with a single round-robin from April 18-30, with the top scoring players qualifying for the Final Four knockout.

Each match consists of four 15+10 rapid games, with the winner earning 3 match points. If the players tie 2:2 a single Armageddon game is played, where White has 5 minutes to Black's 4, but a draw sees Black win the match. An Armageddon winner gets 2 points, the loser 1. No draws offers are allowed before move 40. Official website

1:06 “Giri wants to start an attack against Giri’s King”. :) Reminds me of nakamura drew against nakamura. Big fan agadmator and I enjoy all of your videos and can’t wait to watch them everyday.

Man, this channel is more addictive than the game itself. Kudos, Agad!

This probably the first time I have spotted a winning move missed by a GM. I m proud of myself. 😊

Giri got mad trying to draw but Alireza declined.

" he sacrifices the knight for a very weird continuation of the game " don't ALL GM do that? ?? ahahahaha

Alireza got only one speed. forward. He need to apply the breaks more often and analize in deep the position. But who can't rein the adolescent testosterone. Hopefully with him we have the first great player borned this century.

So... Alireza, in which side are you going to attack this game?
Alireza: Yes

Strong pushback from Giri... from the pressure around 4:00 around the h1 corner, slowly pushing back and ending up with winning in the opposite corner.. :D

What agad says: Prepares to fianchetto the light square bishop.
What I hear: Prepares to free and let go the light square bishop.

What bothered me in the exercise at 7:03 was Black's option to exchange his rook for the bishop and knight with ...Rxh6 Qxh6 Qxd4, leaving Black a pawn up and a better pawn structure, but according to Stockfish, the position is then equal.

I like Firo just because of his madness!
He makes chess interesting to wathc.

Is it only me who spends a good amount of time figuring out what he would play while given a couple of seconds and come up with a move just to see the player play a pawn? Well, today I got it right!!! Event though Firouzja played sth else but behold my God-like chess skills

P.S couldn't guess the second one :')

4:04 in video. White Knight to d2 can block the mate. White will eventually lose on exchange but will at least block the check mate

"Now" must be his favourite word. :)

What can't you just block checkmate with the knight at 4:15?

@4:23 why not Knight to e1 guarding the g pawn? Then the bishop to e4 doesn't work?
