Making an 1850s Day Bodice

This bodice was an exercise in frustration, but 300 mockups later, this project is finally complete!

The sound in some of the clips may be a bit noise, but it's summer in Texas and if I turn off my fan, I will melt.

Honestly, that doesn't seem like an excessive amount of mockups. Mockups are so helpful. I like to compare them to training for an athletic event, by the time you cut into your real fabric, you know the pattern cold. Good video. What a beautiful dress!

Nice work. And I am glad that your furry supervisor was on hand for advising. The fabric is really a great match!

I enjoyed this very much ! Amazing close match on the new fabric . I liked seeing you persevere through the problems that all sewers face and triumph !

I can’t believe how well those plaids match. I would have said they were bought at the same time.

Thank you so much for actually including the frustration and mishaps! It is quite encouraging to realise that I (as a beginner) am not incompetent because things don't go right at first, but that it's just part of the sewing process. And also that while it might take some tweaking and redoing, in the end it comes out looking great. <3

It looks great Megan! What a lucky find to get a close match to the plaid. I hope I get to see it in person at a future DFWCG event!

Excellent stuff. All that hard work paid off. It must be hard fitting a costume to yourself! On a side note - I can't believe how much you look like my sister in law :)

I love it, it's so floofy and gorgeous, and the way it moves is so pretty. By the way, that corset is so beautiful.

I had never heard of the padding under the arms before, but I have certainly seen the wrinkles. Do you know where I can find more details about how to do that?
