A giant statue has been beheaded. Can we find the head? Is Buddha's head still here? We are at Ayutthaya Historical Park, Thailand. Let's save ancient statues no matter where they are and no matter what religion they belong to. Let's protect history.

Bro, they've been destroying our history for hundreds of years and are still doing so, right before our eyes! I, like yourself, find, photograph and document "lost" history. People need us to do the work that we are doing, or we will lose more and more evidences that are extremely important to understanding our true history! Praveen, I respect you and what you do very much. Thank you for your work, sir. Peace, love and happieness, my friend! Sik

I have visited so many sites like this and locals told me that some people intentionally do this for money to sell it in black market as these are the original pieces, especially the heads. Thanks for bringing this to light❤
I love your perspective of exploring the history.BIG FAN❤

Thank you for the update, Praveen..!! They were destroyed mainly during the 1767 sack of Ayutthaya by the Burmese during the Burmese-Siamese War (1765–1767). This was an act of destruction intended to demoralize the locals and demonstrate the might of the Burmese conquerors. The statues were defaced and toppled, in many cases beheaded or severely damaged. The cultural significance and artistic beauty of these statues were not just a matter of historical preservation, but a tangible link to the past and the continuity of Thai culture. The Thai government intentionally left the statues the way they are today, as a reminder for their future generations of what had occurred in their land long ago. According to the Thai history, the invasion of Atytthaya took place on April 7th 1767. Along with that destruction, the Burmese committed atrocities to innocent Thai people that have left a major black mark on Burmese-Thai relations to the present day. Thank you for the teachings as always, Praveen..!!

You don't have to believe in a religion, to respect and cherish the artistry and culture that surrounds and permeates it. I dont have to be catholic to see the greatness of Michael angelo, what these ancient artisans engineers and cultures created was a gift to all of humanity. It shows what we are capable of, and celebrates it. Unlike today where we get wrapped up in material possesions over cultural expression

I have lived in Ayutthaya for a very long time.
It was said that the Burmese destroyed them at the end of the Ayutthaya period.

Be kinda cool to put different heads on different statues, could even turn them to make them look at each other. Its worth a try I would imagine.
