This video has 3 presentations. Matthew Scott, a radiation therapist, talks about what will happen during a radiation treatment, and what the treatment machine and room will look like. Dr. Elizabeth Kurien, a radiation oncologist, talks about how the radiation machine will move around you during treatment and how every person’s radiation treatment is unique. Dr. Greg Peirce, a medical physicist, explains how the amount of radiation (dose) and the number of treatments (fractionation) is specific to each person and the type of cancer they have. Charlotte and Gerry share their experience about having radiation treatment.

I had my final treatment of 37 sessions today 17-11-2021 for aggressive prostate cancer and I can truly say that I feel very well. Luckily for me my cancer had not spread anywhere else.

Thank You, my name is Ken and I finished my 5 day radiation therapy on July 12, 2022 at the Cross Cancer Institute, Edmonton. I would sincerely like to thank the staff of unit #8, as well as all the help I received at every step of the way from the time I entered at the main desk. You're the most courteous, helpful and compassionate people I have ever met. thank you so much ! Ken M.

Thank you for this information. My dad has a consultation for radiation therapy this week and I hope the doctor can give him this treatment for metastasis liposarcoma because I have faith this treatment will help him unlike chemotherapy that is not helping much

I had aggressive Prostate Cancer, a PSA score of 174. No saving the prostate so it was removed along with the seminal vesicles. Post surgery I had a residual PSA of 1.6 rising to 2.4. Should be zero. Started 40 sessions of radiation treatment and after having done 22 of the 40 sessions I tested my PSA again and it had fallen to 0.29. Good news. Treatment doesn't outright kill cancer cells but instead cripples their ability to reproduce. As I write this 24 sessions are completed. My oncologist hadn't ordered a PSA test so I did it myself. Its confirmation on this direction.

I will be starting treatment sometime in the next few weeks.
These videos have been very helpful in understanding what is coming.
I feel very fortunate that I am living in a time & location where these treatments are available.

I'm ending week 5 of head and neck cancer radiation with being admitted into hospital for an NG tube (feeding tube)
The evils of radiation side effects caught up with me at this late point into my treatment.
Other than the inability to eat and drink im well.
The treatment does not hurt and is over pretty quickly.
Now I just need to get my strength up to recover from it.
Best of luck everyone. Any questions im a message away

I have heard people say that radiotherapy afterwards is incredibly painful. I have heard people say that for six weeks afterwards, they will choose death over going through the pain. I am very unhappy that no source talks about that.

I had 10 radiation treatments for cancer in the womb last July 2021, i now see a cancer nurse and am on a one pill a day of Anastrozole, i have not had a scan to see if the cancer has spread so hopefully it hasn't and i am feeling fine in myself.
