Time Of Your Life | Romy's Unexpected Discovery | Throw Back TV

Romy discovers something about her new potential love interest.

From Season 1 Episode 4, 'The Time She Got Mobbed'. As Romy struggles through a television soap opera audition, Sarah’s karaoke singing draws the attention of Tony Rassoli. While Maguire warns against getting her expectations up too high, Sarah is intrigued by Tony’s offer to sing at his family’s nightclub. But after enlisting Maguire as her accompanist, Sarah is disappointed to find that the club is actually an Italian restaurant on Staten Island. Meanwhile, when Romy learns that she got the part, J.B. can’t join her to celebrate because of his ongoing affair with Joan, an older customer at the salon where he works.
Although Sarah is ready to put the whole episode behind her, Tony tracks her down to announce that he’s arranged a recording session with producer Mitchell Shane. Worried that his family has mob connections, Maguire again warns Sarah against getting involved with Tony, whom he suspects is interested in more than just her singing career. And after Tony makes good on his promise to set her up with Mitchell, she soon discovers that Maguire’s suspicions are true. Meanwhile, after Romy is given a bigger part in the TV show, she’s dismayed when J.B. isn’t around to share her excitement. But after giving her an expensive VCR as a gift, J.B. is too embarrassed to tell her the truth about Joan.
In an effort to keep Tony at bay, Sarah asks Maguire to pose as her boyfriend. As a result, Maguire realizes that she has few reservations about doing whatever it takes in order to get ahead. While J.B. struggles to hide his own sense of shame about Joan, Romy loses her part to an actress who slept with the director. And while the guilt keeps J.B. from going to bed with Romy, it also begins to affect his relationship with Joan. Finally, after Sarah tells Tony that there’s no chance of any romance between them, Maguire balks at helping her any more.
