Great to see you enjoyed your visit here in Iceland. It is also a bit funny that the 38" modification is often considered to be the bare minimum for the Hilux to be effective in the highlands during winter. There are trucks here ranging from 33" to 54" tires all depending on weight and the size of the owners wallet.
We run a Tacoma on 44" tires and it is so much fun to go snow wheeling here into the mountains during winter. It is a whole different world up there compared to summer. Even then it is wonderful to travel through though.
