32 Bit Float with the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 Camera! I wasn't expecting this.

The included wireless mic transmitter with the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 goes far beyond what I expected! For starters, this little critter allows 32-bit float recording, so is able to compete even with the recent Rode Wireless Pro!

I purchased the Pocket 3 and it is quickly shaping up to be one of my favourite camers. Great for vlogging and great for B-roll capture too.

The 32 bit float feature was about the only thing not leaked in advance and wasn't really mentioned by DJI when it was released. Very handy! Rumour has it that the internal mic system may get 32 bit float too in a future FW upgrade. So then we would have a 32 bit audio recorder which happened to have a damn good camera as well!

I just checked and yes it says 32bit float for internal recording. However I pulled down volume and you can see that everything that was clipped, still stay clipped, no benefit of 32bit recovery. Maybe the cam uses a 0db hard limiter or it's not real 32bit recording

I just bought the Pocket 3 Creator Combo and was wondering if it's possible to connect the mic to an Android phone. I tried connecting it to my Pixel 7A, and the phone was able to see and connect to the mic, but I couldn't find a clear way to enable it when recording audio or video..

Thanks for the video! Can you use the mic with Mac/iPhone? Or only with the Pocket 3? I assume it might be lacking the rx for those?

This thing was designed to make you sound like you're doing a professional podcast. Hold it up a few inches from your mouth. Its design is to cancel ambient sound.
Unfortunately, you the speaker become a targeted ambient sound the further you hold the mic from your face. Many weren't expecting this and hate this microphone.
All DJI could do in response to all the complaints was to add a firmware update so you can now record with both built in mic and transmitter mic at the same time and
work them in post. If you're lucky enough, your internal mic recordings weren't destroyed by wind. I guess invest in some little circular wind muffs for each hole?
