I don't know how Gorsuch will turn out, but _ Trump wouldn't be the first President who nominated a guy he was *sure* of to the Supreme Court, only to find, to his bafflement and fury, that:

(a) the judge has a mind of his own that isn't the President's;

and (b) once he's *in* the Supreme Court, you can't get him out.
