I met a German guy in Thailand when we were waiting a light near the grand palace. That traffic light was red for like 10 minutes & there was no traffic and I had to wait with him because he insisted to wait, until an officer came and told us that the light was broken 😂
Edit: wow I’m famous thank you guys! This happened on Thai’s Labor Day near the grand palace. I remember the road was quite wide, and there’s a huge roundabout following the road so maybe someone can help me to find the exact place😂 I hope that thing fixed now

I live in America, and as people were crossing the street at a no walk light, but with no cars at a green light, this German guy stopped me before I could go and asked "Excuse me why do people cross the street on when it doesn't say walk?" I told him it's because there are no visible cars that are approaching too close, so therefore, it's safe to cross the road right now....he looked so bewildered 😂

I like the fact that when he was looking on the sides there was a person crossing the street not in the proper place with such a chill

Not gonna lie, checking the street if it's safe to cross is more important than pressing a button, and waiting for green.

I‘m not german but austrian and basically what I do is look at the traffic if there’s like nothing going on I don’t really wait for the signal and if there is traffic I do. Basically just don’t be stupid and run in front of cars.

My friend was followed out into the street by an old lady who dragged him back to the curb & yelled at him (in German) for crossing against the light, even with no traffic coming.

I’ll be honest, I have walked on red a million times in Germany and nobody has cared or said anything to me.

Totally opposite in Italy. A few days ago I've stopped on red light when there were no cars and everyone was looking at me like I was some weirdo.

It happened to me once here in germany. I was standing at the red light and on the other side of the street was an older german guy standing also at the red light and starring at ne the whole time, waiting and expecting for me to ignoring the red light and walking across the street, until the light finally switched to green and i start to walk. This guy finally had his "finally he did it" moment and was thrilled he could finally attack me. The funny part is, he was so obsessed with his attention to act like a wannabe police, he didn't even realize the light has been switched to green. He said something to me and i said to his face " Shut the f*** up and open your eyes and stop dreaming. It's green you dumbass "

Best thing about this is that usually no one cares if you cross the street 20m away from the traffic lights, because well... If there's no traffic lights, there's no red light🤷‍♀️😂

Had a police car pull up to me one time after walking a red light. They just warned me but it was so embarrassing since all my peers were right behind me and didn't walk 🫠
