Water resource management has become a crucial factor in California’s ongoing wildfire crisis. In Kern County, a family with significant influence over water access has been linked to decisions that restrict water use, potentially complicating firefighting efforts. While various factors, such as homelessness and activism, are often discussed, some argue that the lack of accessible water could be one of the more overlooked causes contributing to the state’s devastating wildfires.

Time to redirect that Ukraine aid to Americans who need it.

This is heart wrenching! So many homes lost.
Do our policy makers still want to ignore environment changes?

At least four major insurance companies (State Farm, Allstate, Chubb, Tokio Marine America, and Trans Pacific Insurance) have canceled or declined to renew policies for structures in Los Angeles and other wildfire-prone areas in California. State Farm alone canceled over 72, 000 policies statewide, including 1, 626 in Pacific Palisades. This has left many homeowners reliant on the California FAIR Plan, an insurer of last resort

This should be a wake up call to all involved. Insurance providers aren't going to touch these areas with a 10 foot pole UNLESS fire building codes are upgraded to only use fire proof materials like concrete, steel, ceramic, glass... Wood frame construction should be illegal in places that are high fire risk zones. Ditto for those who build in Hurricane and Tornado Alley too!

State Farm, the largest home insurer in California, announced in 2023 that it would no longer accept new homeowners' insurance applications in the state. In 2024, it canceled 72, 000 home and apartment policies statewide, including 1, 626 policies in Pacific Palisades, one of the areas hardest hit by the wildfires

Is the government going to temporarily shelter these people while the contractors rebuild their home or are these people expected to relocate/purchase new already constructed homes elsewhere? How long does it take to build one of these houses?

The build quality does not help, like match sticks. Also, what happened to the water?

the anger should be towards the weak leaders of LA and Gavin Newsom, caruso the mayor candidate who lost against Mayor Bass, his property is still up due to him being smart about the fire risk and being up to fire code. MAyor bass, jail time and community service and relinquish your assets and salary to go towards the rebuilding of people's home.

Such an unpredictable fire path. Doesn't look like any mitigation plans were made, with all the constant fires in that State; and the lack of water is mind boggling. A Forbes article mentions some family there owns 58% of a water bank in California and it's used for their 175, 000 acres of farmland. Maybe this is also the issue of no water availability along with the unallocated $7 Billion for the expansion of water reservoir?

I really hope this would be a wake up call for a change on both environmental policies and on building code. Houses in the US are really disasters waiting to happen, wood and cardboard mainly.

Chubb and its subsidiaries stopped writing new policies for high-value homes in areas with higher wildfire risks

No sympathy for them whatsoever. Those are not nice people!

Allstate, another major insurer, halted new policies in California in 2022 and has been reducing its footprint in the state due to wildfire risks

Someone did all this intentionally. 😡😡😡

Now think about destruction caused by bombs in Gaza, your grievances are reasonably undeniable, you should feel comfortable
