I read the Etsy email today about its new SEO policies. At the bottom of the email, it stated that people who charge $6 or less for shipping will get higher ranking. This seems crazy to me, especially if you are selling a large, heavy item. So, it's basically penalizing people who sell such items.

Yeah, I can’t wait to get you guys thoughts on the Etsy search visibility section. I don’t know if anybody noticed but in the area where they told us our shipping prices were too high, they said it won’t affect your ranking until I think it was like October 1. Which basically means lower your prices or you’re gonna lose rank. Also, in the star seller, I noticed they added a criteria of three cases. That’s fine and good however if your shop is selling 30 items in three months, no biggie but if your shop is selling 3000 items and three months, that’s not a very fair metric.

The data is still lame on the new dashboard. Not granular enough. I want to see conversion rates based on traffic source, like Google analytics.

When I opened my shop this morning it says that my search visibly needs work because my 1st pictures of all 1, 600 of my products have an issue because all my products 1st picture contains a smaller picture in picture of the product in closeup form. Does that mean I need to change that? I hope not I just spent 2 months adding this feature to to pictures so my customers can see my product before having to click on it. Does this mean that my products are not ranking due to having this feature?

I do need to work on my conversion rate (fluxes 1-2). I’m getting surges of traffic from the big P, which is great for boosting views exponentially, but it’s now dragging down my conversion rate. Pinterest people seem to peruse and not purchase as often as regular Etsy cutomers. On another note: I’ve never seen such a dynamic sequence of hand gestures from a public speaker 😁 The dog pile gesture (1:28:34) had me cracking up and, in the future, I will be using that non verbal hand gesture when someone annoys me hahaha

Hi! I have a question about personalization, and it might be a bit unusual. I recently started selling personalized dog collars and tags and finally made 2 sales, 2 weeks after launching. However, both customers didn’t provide the necessary information and didn’t follow the instructions properly. I don't think my personalization guide is that complicated. You are the second Etsy seller I hear use the term “long tail” when describing a title with a lot of words. I am new to Etsy but I have sold for many years on Ebay. Ebay sellers also use the phrase “long tail” but in a totally different context. So I went to the dictionary. I believe Etsy sellers are using that phrase wrong. “Long tail” does not mean something that is very long, as in a long title with a lot of words.
