JLT COLD AIR INTAKE INSTALLATION AND TUNE | 2021 Mustang GT

After having some mods in my trunk for a few weeks I finally have some time to get them installed. We are starting with the most important, in my opinion, the JLT Cold Air Intake. I also install a new tune in the Mustang to optimize the new CAI. I ordered the JLT and tuner from American Muscle as a combo item and they sent me a couple of custom tunes from BAMA Performance. Once it was installed and the tune loaded, I could already tell a difference in the throttle response and tone of the engine.

Do you need to tune it or can you just drive it like that without the tune

Do the tunes already come pre loaded on the tuner ?

Did you get rid of the sound tube when doing the install also? I’ve heard it’s not necessary and gives a more crisp sound.

On a hot day I was seeing 140 plus IAT in stop and go traffic with the JLT on my 18’, 115-120 degrees at highway speeds. It was 92 degrees that day. Not really beneficial to a daily driver who is WOT 20% of the time driving their Mustang.

Only benefit inho this has is it being an open element filter, is that it’s not limited in airflow as the entire hot engine bay is its air box, and the 120mm MAF housing.
