We're already busy with all the studying we have to do, but they also expect us to figure out what's on the test?? I learned the hard way, so I hope to make your life a little easier. In this video we are going to talk about all the different methods I use to figure out what the test questions could possibly be. Then, once we know what's important and what's not, I'll tell you about a highly efficient study approach called studying with a paintbrush.

🙏 Thanks for watching!

I actually NEVER READ the textbook for one of my courses and STILL get A+ always. Pro tip: some courses consist of lectures, PowerPoints, and readings. Start with the PowerPoints, move on to the lecture, and THEN if you still don't get it read the textbook, which is usually the longest part of the assignment. But the PowerPoints and lectures are the "circle" if you will. Study SMARTER, not harder.

Woah, thank you so much! I am a first-year student at university and for my first midterms, I was trying to study everything. I like the paintbrush technique that you mentioned. I will definitely use this since I am going to be having my second midterms in a few weeks.

I have a hard time focusing on what to study and I end up studying things that aren’t even on the test. Im in 10th grade and found this video super helpful, I would recommend this to my friends thanks for this.

I used to always go up to the professor and have a conversation with them about their thoughts on the next upcoming exam. That helped me most the time!

Hey Mike and Matty, I've been using active recall and spaced repetition in my study for a science examination! I noticed great retention of the content I had studied and felt confident answering every question in the exam. I've also been studying along the lines of the Pomodoro technique - from your "to study less" video - which has helped me study for extended periods of time. Currently, I'm still working on my scheduling and am also trying to implement new active recall methods, such as using flashcards to quiz myself. As said previously, active recall has helped my studies - I mainly use the Feynman technique (with my friend) and do practise questions. Also, mind maps and enumeration methods seem interesting and practical.

Anyways, keep up the high quality videos! Your comprehensive information and tips are great!

Hey man. I'm a student nurse in NJ and since I've been watching your videos, I have been doing much better in school with studying and content covering, and just wanted to thank you for sharing your wisdom you worked so hard for. I got an 83 on my first exam, and I just received a 94 on last week's exam. I don't think I've ever got an "A" on am exam. So thank you again my friend. And congratulations on passing your boards and becoming an MD

Great video man! thanks! I like your “ studying with a paintbrush” tip. Sometimes it’s so draining going through every single anatomy slide. But now I know to study from harder to easier! Thanks again, God bless.

The reading and paintbrush is something I know I shouldn’t do by reading start to end but I don’t know how. I still don’t know what u meant to read from the center. I hope you guys can make a video about how to read a textbook smartly. I really really struggle with reading smart not hard. They say the SQ3R but like I want to read fast, not taking notes, and just understanding the contents of the chapter then proceed to practice after. I hope you guys can make a video about textbook reading. I’m sure a lot of people would be interested.
