I'm a union carpenter and I totally agree. To much culture war not enough focusing on wages and cost of living.

Democrats abandoned working class in the mid-1980's! they hired some expensive consultants to tell them to do so! One was asked, "If we no longer represent them, will they still vote for us?" The consultant laughed and said "Of course they will still vote for you! Who else are they gonna vote for, Republicans?" He was right. Until 2016. After 8 years of Bill Clinton and then 8 years of O-bomb-uh, working class, especially in the Midwest, woke up to the fact that Dem's no longer represented them, so they voted for Trump! Hillary and the Dem leadership, you got what was coming to you! Working class had the last laugh! Dem's were so sure they had it in the bag but hahahaha that's what you get for 16 years of doing NOTHING for working class. Actually that's wrong, you DID do something for working class: You enacted trade bills that sent American jobs to Mexico and overseas. So you did worse than doing nothing for working class, you helped destroy working class.

What a great and thoughtful guest. I haven't heard someone be that honest about the complexity of an issue or come on one of these shows without a bs one-liner quick fix slogan ever. I really appreciate this segment and really really appreciate this guest and the interviewers having the courage to be honest and not dumb this topic down for the sake of a slogan.

The greatest problem we have is the overwhelming, blatant and gross corruption of our entire government. From top to bottom.

The Dem party's vision for immigration is supplying Wall St with as much cheap, exploitable labor as it takes to bottom out American wages.

Trickle down economics broke the country apart, NAFTA broke those pieces down even more.

I️ love this dude. He literally called out the bs that is progressives and Christian Right, which are essentially identical for those of us who lived throughout the 90’s to remember. And still calling out both parties using tactics and calling out bs politicians on both sides. I️ enjoyed this because it’s how I️ as a democrat feel. A bunch of phony politicians calling themselves socialist and progressive and are just filling their pockets.

But but wait. Bernie & AOC showed up to support Amazon employees AFTER they worked hard for & pushed to unionize. They were just ummm, busy, yeah that's it, to busy to help before.

Best segment you have had without Kim Iverson for a long, long, long time.

Arguing about CEO pay is an argument for those who know nothing about economics.
Reducing CEO pay will not give workers much more money.
Free trade has a greater effect on a worker's wage than a CEO bonus package. The
purpose of free trade is to bring in goods produced at a lower wage than domestically
produced.

I have noticed that most things "Made In America", that aren't automobiles or guns, are made from only one or two materials. Roto-molded kayaks being one example. Lifetime-warrantied socks being another. It's like we've been reduced to standing up factories that only use one manufacturing technique. I love MagPul, but MagPul does plastic with springs in it. Okay, a quick check of their site indicates they've branched into nylon slings, and probably got someone to make them some sunglasses under contract.
We don't seem to have very many manufacturers left that work in several different materials, except for automotive (protected by the Chicken Tax), and guns (protected by similar import restrictions, although the most relevant are somewhat more recent, and, honestly, guns are machined steel, and wood, sometimes substituted with plastic).

Of course, the problem is it's cheaper to make things somewhere where people can be paid beans, then ship it here in a giant steel crate. For all his flaws, at least Henry Ford understood the need to pay his workers enough that they could also be his customers.

This is what rampant corruption looks like. Two parties - one donor class. Same parties = same results. We have a right to more choices - three or more parties.

What are you views on Public Sector Unions? Ie; firefighters, teachers, police and government workers. As a 15year Firefighter in Washington State who was actively involved in the union for many years. I recently quit the union, along with 22 other members (out of 140 guys), due to their utter failure to represent members with the mandates. The Washington State legislature is bought and paid for by public unions, a little investing and you’ll see just how money is exchanged between the State government and union interest.

Pretty hard to have unions at all if corporations can simply export those jobs abroad.
