Really excited to see Sonic making this, especially as my new layout is a model of Glaisdale Station. Looking forward to recreating the scene from the archive footage soon. I was surprised at the price being fairly reasonable too compared to some new releases, I've ordered mine in early crest BR livery.

Demonstrates that 'reserved elegance' of pre-grouping locomotives perfectly.
Thanks for sharing.

For those like me who placed orders last year with the promise of an early 2022 arrival and are still waiting, I contacted Rails Of Sheffield and they say the A5's should not be too much longer before they are due for release. These locos were in use on the Hull to Withernsea and Hornsea lines, now like the lines themselves the locos are long gone.

I received an email from RoS this week It was the first time I ever seen this class of suburban loco. I kept returning to RoS ad and tonight I preordered the early L&NER version with optional sound. I look forward to operating it.

Great that the manufacturers are building diecast bodies following the European models like Marklin, ESU to name a few👍👍👍

The handpainting and lining of the green example has been very well done

Thank you for a great review ! The A5 type was often seen in the late 40s and early 50s (!) on the Marylebone to Aylesbury line, and also at Princes Risborough. They made a great sound too ! Can't wait to buy one. Many thanks.

Great looking model and an awsome choise be nice if they did one in N gauge too. The LNER green looks fantastic well done to Sonic Models.

Looks to be a nice model and its sure to be a hit with GCR/East Coast modellers. Just wish we could finally get some similar support for Welsh regional steam, like Taff Vale or Rhymney Railway locos. Probably a bit too 'niche' though.

ooh - hopefully that black and white clip of an A8 is a subtle hint to their next model!

As I haven't seen it mentioned elsewhere, the passing of the L&TR to Eastern Region BR brought some A5s to work along with the 3cyl. Staniers & Riddles Standard 4 tanks. So the A5s can be paired with stock of the late 50s and still be correct.

Wonderful, been waiting for this loco in GCR livery for ages .My opinion how it was not done earlier is beyond me .Simply beautiful loco and so imposing shame at least one was not preserved. Well done rails order in !

Often seen at Nottingham Victoria. Looks like a lot of room under those tanks for conversion to EM. I do like the Thompson suburban coaches too.

Excited to see this complete and on people's layouts, out of my main era I model, but certainly a tempting piece to buy. Though I've already got far too many pre orders as it is 😂

Good to see another new manufacturer coming in to the market. Can only be good for competition.

This was in life a very common loco in the Wirral, Cheshire from Birkenhead to Chester / North Wales in 50s & 60s, the model does justice to this loco..great to see

Looks great, I've been waiting for a pacific tank for ages, since the A5s and A8s ran up in my neck of the woods alongside the G5s (and in later days, ivatts too). I love transition era liveries, so its the GCR green with L&NER branding for me. Hope the cab on the factory model will be fully painted inside, unlike that hand finished sample shown.

Side note, are you going to paint the inside edge of that back section to match, either the brown of the newly extended piece or the grey of the original by the quarry?
