When I'm Dead and Gone McGUINNESS FLINT (with lyrics)

McGuiness Flint was an early example of a "supergroup". The lineup was Tom McGuiness (ex-Manfred Mann), Hughie Flint (former drummer with John Mayall), singer-songwriters Gallagher and Lyle along with vocalist Dennis Coulson. This was their debut single and peaked at #2 in the UK charts in 1970. The follow up made #5, but their sound was difficult to reproduce live on stage and their concerts were often disappointing. The sudden success proved too much for the group and slowly, they disbanded.

I was 16 when this record out in early 1971. The record charts were full of big hit records at that time. CCR was at their creative peak and kept records in the billboard at the time and there were lot of other real groups cranking out hit singles as fast as they could. And it was all good stuff. The 1970's. A great time for music.

I live in Cornwall and this was one of the favourite covers a local folk group used to play! They did it so well.

Hello to all the recycled teenagers here leaving some lovely nostalgic comments - music is timeless; age is but a number and love lives on in this oft-times adverse World. Really like the instrumentals on this Track particularly at 2:52, it just takes me back. Keep on rockin' all of you.

Bought this as a very unhappy 14 year-old in 1971. Have still got the single two divorces later ! So agree with the sentiments.

I was lucky enough to see and hear Tom singing this live at the Manfred concert in North Berwick on Wednesday 10th August 2022. Still has a fantastic voice as has Paul Jones of Manfred!

I'd completely forgotten about this beautiful song, until tonight I heard it in "Heartbeat" - an old English TV series. Delightful! 🎵🎵
