My rule of thumb for this topic is this, Only Trash Talk if you're truly confident and know you can back it up your Performance up on the court.

I honestly never really trash talked.. I always trusted my workout and preparation.. I never cut corners with working hard, hard work, and skill takes effort.. trash talk require no skill at all, that's mainly for the ppl who cut corners, and don't trust their skill and hard work

I trash talk. I say something subtle at the start of the game and then defend to back it up.
It's an art form. You don't need to be constantly bagging them out, you don't need to be aggressive or insulting, you just need to say one thing that gets someone thinking.

The important thing is to know your limitations as a defender and channel what you say to what you can back up.

To be a great defender, you need a little bit of a verbal niggle to your game. Not much, very minimal but enough.

That's my flipside opinion to yet another sensational vid.
