TESTING the Boston Whaler 405 Conquest - Triple V12 Mercury

Big, comfortable, safe and remarkably easy to operate by yourself are the takes aways I took from a day onboard this Boston Whaler 405 Conquest. When you add the latest power option it then becomes a seriously great boat for a unique selection of boaters.

The bigger counter rotational props and gears on the V12's are very noticable when powering this boat onto the plane. She's also a perfect match for joystick operation providing some of the most straightforward and simple operation i've experienced via joystick on outboards which I think may be down to the width between the two outer motors providing greater leverage and therefore control.

But it doesn't end there as the space utilization and quality of fit and finish below decks and even into the bilge is true Boston quality.

You do need to learn how to trim her correctly however and you'll see me discovering this in the test drive video along with plenty of other interesting features and performance details.

I hope this is useful,

Enjoy!

Great video! I love the Whaler 405 Conquest. I enjoyed a ride at a Florida boat show. My high light of the show!

Nice video. seems like a very high quality boat and great allrounder. Interestingly according to the Boston Whaler website all the engine options they show data for (quad 300, quad 400 and triple V12) have a very similar fast cruise mpg, within 2%, but the speed for that optimum mpg is a bit higher in the V12 boats. The lowest engined boat did have a Seakeeper and genny though and the other's don't so in real life best fast cruise mpg on the 300s might be a tiny bit better like-for-like. I suppose the less drag and engine friction from 3 engines instead of 4 balances out for the larger engines used in the V12s. Probably slightly less maintenance too on 3 engines instead of 4.

Great review as always those engines seem incredible 🇬🇧🫡

I wonder how it would perform with the OXE diesel outboards fitted. It would be an interesting combination, especially here in Australia for remote travel.

This boat with pair of inboard diesels or even single would be something special!

Really enjoyed the sideways docking segment of the video. Curious if the bow thruster is part of the sideways crabbing when using the joystick to ease up to dock sideways???

Nice review. Why 40mph speed limit if you’re not in a no wake zone ? Logic behind that ? Thanks

0:18 'best fuel economy'.... if you've bought a triple 600HP outboard boat then fuel economy isn't a concern.

Phenomenal boat. Next level, and I guess when your motors cost $350k you're not going to be bothered by burning 200 to 400ltrs per hour fuel ha ha. Incredible amd.i bet it's an absolute pleasure to operate.

Nice to see that hull in a real Sea state as that is what they are built for. Not cheap. Great resale value tho all of the hulls being made from reputable brands very strong in 2024. Not sure i like not having a tuna tower in these massive machines but yeah ... nice crash into a wall of water😊

How does this compare to a riviera of similar specs

Struggling with the cockpit layout, just not enough seating for underway travel if you had 6-8 people onboard, more set for fishing given it's a BW. Not a fan of the rear facing seats while underway, not safe for me, especially if you've got non-boating people onboard.

Capt in drone shots of close maneuvering was wearing a white shirt?

I would ditch the seakeeper, too expensive, it is heavy and robs you of the real feeling of being on the water, out there with the elements, fighting the sea, getting your sealegs, adapting to the waves.

You really shouldn't need 1, 800 hp to move a boat that big.

Just out of curiosity are the Aussie boat cops as insufferable as they are in the U.S.?

This boat need diesel engine. Either Diesel outboard or inboard. Ohter than thirsty petrol engine it's a nice boat.
