The United States Army and the South African Defence Force (SANDF) are on a joint operation in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN).

They say the training between the two countries is critical in safeguarding their territories.

The two armed forces signed the Exercise Shared Accord in 2010 to enhance their operational skills.

On Wednesday, they conducted capability demonstrations before a lively crowd of school pupils in Richards Bay, on the KwaZulu-Natal north coast. The biannual ceremony was the fourth since start of the agreement.
