One of my fondest memories from my days of performing was when my band, which was primarily a pop/rock cover band, would slip some jazz standards into the set list. This was one of my favorites of those.

Joe is and always has been brilliant, and played with the Great Horace Silver a lot, and this sound is right from the Horace Silver Quintet influence playbook to me. Sounds just like it. Beautiful.

My favorite version of this tune.  The epitome of the blue note sound- impeccable, expressive and hard driving.

Joe Henderson...another master...Wasn't he from the Ellington school? No, my friend says; Lester Young; Joe apparently was too late to play for the Duke, basically...

Note: If "you" are going to play this justly famous tune, only 16 bars long, get it right. DO NOT use the "Real Book" notated head, which is incorrect. If "you" have an ear, it will take maybe 5 minutes to transcribe the accurate head, and thereto to play the tune as intended. For extra credit, get the Joe Henderson harmony line in there, which is in the last 4 bars on the repeat.

Also there is the "other" head after the bass solo. More like a background line I guess. A lot of similar tunes have these secondary heads. All am saying is, if you are going to do this tune, put some work into it & get it going in the right direction. Don't rely on the crappy "Real Book".

Too bad McCoy is listed as ‘Etc.’ on the album cover. Plenty of space for his name there. Sheesh

Вот Гари Мур молодец. Из джазового бреда сделал нормальную песню.
