Ah, the enchantment of nature's symphony! 🍃✨ With each dig, I draw closer to their awakening. Jason may jest, but to me, it's a wondrous miracle—a double brood, TRILLIONS of cicadas emerging in harmony. The soil, the compost, the earth's dance of life! #CicadaWatch #crunchymom #CicadaSymphony #NatureNurtures #DoubleBroodDelight #shorts

The trillions of cicadas is exactly what she needed to evolve from crunchy mom to CRISPY MOM

The cicadas in our tree literally scream louder when cars or people get close.

Reasons to hate cicadas:
1. They hate you so they’re is no reason to try to like them
2. They give people migraines
3. You can’t mow or weedeat your lawn without being harassed
4. They literally SCREAM when you touch them (it’s the most disturbing shrieking sound I have heard)
5. They run into your windshield and leave a streak
6. They enjoy latching onto long hair
7. One of their favorite pastimes is chasing people on their own property

As someone who USED TO live in rural east Texas on a 10 acre plot of trees, I can say that you will never experience peace again. That cicadas will scream all day and night and you can hear it from inside the house. It isn't a miracle, it's an infestation 😅

I love cicadas. I adore them. Cicadas are the daytime soundtrack of the summer, and crickets are the nighttime soundtrack. I love the constant white noise.

Cicada mating screams can reach 80 to 120 decibels. This can cause permanent hearing loss if you’re outside hearing that too long

I experienced something very crazy in Cape Cod one summer, our friends lived in the woods and they had what we called “The Hollywood House”, it was beautiful and they had an in-ground pool and everything. This was like 2008 I wanna say? It ended up being a swarm of cicadas of literal biblical proportions. We jumped in the pool thinking we’d escape them but as soon as we’d emerge for air, they were flying directly in our faces or whizzing past our ears incessantly. It was honestly a swarm. It felt like some kind of old school Roman torture, they’re huge, ungainly and very, very loud. After that I started looking into the patterns of cicadas because obviously I grew up with them but never to the point that they basically forced you to be inside your home during their mating season. I’m never wanting to experience that again.

I love cicadas, too. I could sit and listen to their cyclic chorus for hours.

I lived in a part of Australia for 10 years where they have a bumper crop of green grocers (large cicadas) every 7 years, which I experienced twice. One of those years was a mega event like you’re discussing. Spending just a few mins outside that summer was literally deafening and coming inside after was like you’ve been at a rock concert. It was cool. I like collecting cicada shells 💚

One of the most beautiful things I have ever seen was the cicadas emerging in spring 2021. Under a full moon, thousands of pearl white cicadas came out and developed their wings, looking like fairies in the night. Truly amazing
