I have a 2021 Model 3. My workplace has level 2 charging, and it's free, so I rarely charge at home.

But but but, you're going to miss out on all the fun stuff like oil change, tranny flush, tune up, air filters, coolant flush, 02 sensors, gas cap etc. 😂 just a couple of hr at the dealer.

I Commute 164 miles daily 5 days a week used to spend on average $600 a month on gas plus oil changes, now with a tesla I spend about $150 charging at home and no oil changes :)

11 cents/kwh is pretty cheap. In CA its 3 times that. Gas is higher too but not 3 times higher. So it depends on where you live.

I think the Uber driver was inaccurate at 25% when using Superchargers. They usually cost $0.30-40 /kwh vs 11 cents at home. While rare, there are some superchargers that offer greatly reduced time-of-use overnight rates.

EV drivers that can’t charge at home claim their EV only saves a little vs an efficient gas car. Beware of some non-Tesla road trip chargers at over $0.60/kwh.

In addition to my day job, I manage a commercial EV charger at a condominium building. So far, we only have a few subscribers, but feel one charger can support 5 or more EVs when on a schedule. No one charges every day.

The big problem I’ve faced is Demand (penalty) fees for consuming a large amount of energy because it’s on the same circuit as swimming pool/spa heaters plus two club house AC units. With demand fees rising significantly over the past 3 years, I must charge $0.19 /kwh. A few years ago it was only $0.10.

We have a 2017 Ford Explorer XLT (12.6L/100km) and a 2022 Tesla MYLR (166 Wh/km)

If we charged at home 100% it only cost ~7% of the gas money (CAD$0.087/kWh)
If we charged at supercharger 100% at on-peak hours only it only cost ~53% of the gas money (CAD$0.67/kWh)
If we charged at supercharger 100% at mid-peak hours only it only cost ~41% of the gas money (CAD$0.52/kWh)
If we charged at supercharger 100% at off-peak hours only it only cost ~37% of the gas money (CAD$0.47/kWh)
If we charged at supercharger 100% at midnight hours only it only cost ~26% of the gas money (CAD$0.33/kWh)

gasoline is @ CAD$1.659/L

I know these two vehicles aren't similar but that is what we would have driven 25, 425 km/yr that our MYLR has

I think Tesla data share is good idea I will do it after I own Tesla one year.

Using your numbers gas would need to sell for $0.94/Gallon to equal your cost at 2000 miles/month. I do not believe we will see gas that cheap in my lifetime.

My electric rate in Orange County california is more expensive than your .11
My rate is .25 from 8am to 5pm
And .33 from 5 to 8 pm
And .28 cents from 8 pm to 8 am
Still a lot cheaper to charge Tesla than pay average 5 dollar a gallon gas
Putting in solar last year has reduced my electric bill by 80 percent

Thank you. I've often wondered about this.

That cab driver is not good with numbers. No way is supercharging 25 percent of the cost of gas … especially in Nevada etc … it’s same or even more expensive than gas

So faults in the data. What’s your cost of all the upgrades to the electrical in the house? Also what’s the cost of the charging system? Even if it’s included in the purchase of the vehicle that needs to be included because that’s part of the electrical cost.

As well comparing home prices vs paying retail for fuel is not exactly apples to apples. Around in MO level 2 is 0.26 a kWh so it’s over twice as much.

As for comparison my F-150 diesel cost is 0.153 per mile being a diesel. The. If your traveling and waiting for charging what is your time worth?

What is the cost with tax . The 11 cents is without tax . You are probably paying close to 19 cents total after tax
