And you have to set the clock every day. :) The better way is to add a rechargeable battery instead of a capacitor that will work at night and change during the day, similar to the garden lights with solar panels. Btw, the easiest way is just to buy cheap solar lights, get the battery and the solar panel and connect them to the clock.

Simple with this circuit add one rechargable battery. Or mobile battery which is not in use. In day solar panel will work in night battery will work

Hi, a question; if I don't have a 50V 22uf capacitor, can I use one that is still 50V but 47uf?

LOL THIS IS A DAYTIME CLOCK. WILL LAST UNTIL THE FROM 1.2V TO 1.6V QUARTZ CLOCK TOLERATE OVER VOLTAGE FROM ALMOST 3VDC FROM PHOTOCELL . ADD AN 'AA' RECHARGEABLE BATTERY AND MAYBE IT WILL RUN FOR YEARS.

I use panasonic blue label super heavy duty AA zinc carbon batteries in my mechanical analog wall clock. 4/$1.00 at the dollar store. Each battery lasts between 1-2 years. I recycle worn out batteries, so they don't go to landfill. And yes, the batteries will last just about forever in storage without leaking. The clock keeps almost perfect time using zinc carbon as opposed to alkaline due to the different way each of them emit power.

It will stop working soon as it goes dark :) LOL

this looks like solar but you would have to place the clock in the sun or other bright lights every time so it could work so is it worth it?

What do you do at night, engineer during the day?

Crazy idea. Battery is still the best.

If it really works, zener diode of the required voltage should also be connected to regulate the voltage.

При 2.7в часовой механизм будет работать быстрее, потому что он назначен для 1.5в.И вообще не лучшее место ты выбрал для установки панели, он же всегда будет в тени.

China is selling a "wall light" device which charges a built-in battery during day time and lights up a lane by the wall at night. I am thinking of buying this device to power an electric clock so that it works even in complete darkness.

What happens when it gets dark? The watch will stop right?

How about the night time? when switch off the light

Just connect and focus an led bulb on solar panel so it will work in dark also. Extend wires so you can connect solar panel on front top.

it's a good idea, but I doubt very much that the tiny solar cell is large enough to run an analogue clock of that size for long. The same goes for the tiny capacitor.
