Is it ever okay to lick the knife?

‘‘The knives are out’’ expression definitely doesn’t apply to table manners🍴 The knife’s sole purpose is to cut or scoop food onto the fork (depending on the dish). Flipping the blade upwards or using the knife as a pointing tool is rude and disrespectful towards our dining companions ❌ ❌ Likewise, licking the blade shouldn’t happen in any dining setting due to both health and etiquette reasons.
