McMurray Special Test for Meniscus Tear - Knee Clinical Examination

The McMurray test is probably one the most well known and recommended special tests for detecting a meniscus tear during your knee clinical exam.

In some of my past videos, I've talked about how I somply palpate joint line and perform end range of motion to also detect mensiscus tears and avoid some of the compression and rotation of this test.

A positive test is pain along the joint with or without an audible clunk or click.

The test has evolved over the years, so some of the studies looking at the efficacy are slightly off, but it does appear to have some value to rule in a meniscus tear when a positive test is found.
