Casigator vs Exorcist: which is better?

You can have your own preference but regarding Castigators and Exorcists I prefer the Exorcist as a Sisters of Battle tank to use in my Adepta Sororitas army in Warhammer 40,000 on the tabletop.

Has ap -2, sure, but if you use its indirect rule, (which, if your not, why use an exorcist in the first place?)
Youll lose a pip of ap, bringing it down to 1, AND youll be hitting on 4s. In an army with no easy access to rerolls.

castigators have a SLIGHTLY higher average number of shots. And if you use the battlecanon, -1 AP ignore cover is the same effective AP as the exorsist when fireing indirect. (AP2 -cover), The castigator can perform double duty as the cannon also has blast for infantry, and the same strength for veichles. The big difference is using the miracle dice to wound instead of to change the damage, and the points needed to bring it.

Twin-linked, rapid fire autocannons are simply good in general. Indirect fire is simply good in general. Both have good stats and decent points costs for their profiles.

Then we have the Immolator; a force multiplier for your sisters' meltaguns to help them punch up into armor.

I'd recommend 3 of each 😊

I only experienced the exorcist being scary but doesn’t do anything. For 180 points I dropped it and don’t regret. High priority armoured targets aren’t scared of it mostly wounding on 5. pity because the model is beautiful

The main issue is points. Take x2 battle cannons and x1 autocannon Cassie for the midfield and call it a day.

I think the castigator has more board presence which means it can be used as a distraction, for me I would run them both as a hidden cheeky at option

Unitcrunch gives that a roughly .1% chance of happening, but they'll forever be viable anti-armor in my mind

My buddy uses them together, if he battleshocks with that casitigator then allows for hopefully easy pickings

Exorcist are to feast or famine with the worse to hit and AP and strength being effectively the same as a BC shot not to mention the extra heavy bolters and rerolling hits is super nice in overwatch and the battleshock can help

Okay, but indirect means you gain no benefit from heavy and the AP-2 missiles don't ignore cover so they're back down to AP-1. So the only thing it has going for it is being able to flip 1 damage roll to a 6, provided you have a 6 available and didn't use a MD for anything else that phase.

Cause it's 40 points less and the battle cannok has a 48 inch range. Their close enough that, that's all i need personally

Yeah the Castigator is dissappointing mostly in that the twin autocannons are better against vehicles: similar number of shots, same AP and damage, only one lower strength *but* Twin-Linked, so it'll do more damage against anything T11+ without needing miracle dice there.

The main thing is the 40pts difference being quite steep, and a Castigator is fairly likely to get those slightly/half damaged bonuses at some point wheras an out-of-view Exorcist might not (which is a shame because it'd like the hit roll more =/ ).
