A dealership in Texas wouldn’t budge on the price and wouldn’t take off any of the “extras”. I told them I found a better deal in Missouri and was told “well if you think it’s worth it, then maybe you should drive to Missouri”.

I did just that, then drove by the dealership on my way back with my new trailer hitched up to my truck.

I’m going to make a special trip all the way up from Texas to you guys to purchase my next RV.

Last vehicle I bought they started the bs spiel and my lovely daughter asked him if he wanted to hear her talk about her period, he said will lets get this done for you and stopped the bs. Having independent young women for daughters is at times a blessing.

Been in Jeff’s office...TWICE. Easy going and straight forward guy. Honest and low pressure finish to the Haylett buying experience. I (we) will have no problem driving the 250 miles (each way) to purchase a 3rd RV from these fine folks, should that need ever arise. BUY WITH CONFIDENCE AND NO STRESS AT HAYLETT RV! 💎💎💎💎💎

Hi Josh, we bought our Geo Pro from you and payed for it outright, once we told our salesman it's a cash deal there was never a mention of financing from your team, I was waiting for the speil but it never happened. I can say from personal experience your team is the best !!

That’s it! I can’t take any more! I was able to put up with your silliness and your goofy jokes but the honesty is over the line! LOL! I can’t wait until my wife and I settle on a model. I will be making the trip to see you guys without hesitation! Great videos!

The big box place hated me at purchasing, sitting at the desk, time. I said I was paying for it outright. They were trying desperately to get me to finance a few times. It got awkward, I almost walked a few times. I then asked what I should bring a bank check for. Before that happened, I was brought in to the big boss office. I let him go through his spiel about all the extended warranties, tires, fabric, so many pamphlets with prices scribbled on them. At the end I said I was g into wrested in any, more pushing, I got up, asked his the same question. How much should I bring a bank check for. The next time I went to buy stuff from the store, I was a total stranger to everyone. I didn’t care. I got the rig I wanted at a decent price without all the pricey frosting.

The one person to dislike must work at one of those dealers that does this

Here's the deal. You go into a dealer, looking at an RV, say, that's advertised for $37, 995. You like it and want to buy it. So when it comes time, they ask you about financing. Now if you know like me about the 'kickbacks' that dealers get from lenders, you will say you want to pay cash. They balk and say, "Well, that's going to cost you $2500 more if you pay cash".. (because they're not gonna get that kickback). So if you are not like me, you go ahead and pony up and sign on the dotted line for oh, RV, TAX, PREP, "paperwork" for licensing etc, and them possible for that useless spray stuff inside and outside, and an inflated extended warranty that only covers 5 years. Yes, it's true. SO you can walk out paying on a loan that is MUCH larger than that $37, 995 price. Oh yea, and if you're real lucky they will not tell you that the loan you are getting will have a prepayment penalty of several hundred dollars or more (to discourage you from getting that 'cheap' financed price and quickly paying it off, so the lender and dealer lose money - the lender on all that luscious interest and the dealer on that luscious kickback.

That happened to us last year (Aug 2021), though it was buying a FR product that was on 'sale' for $25, 995. We put $7K down, and then after tax, title, and the extended warranty and other add on crap, we walked out with a loan for about $26K. The lender was US Bank, so we started making payments of $252 a month. Fast forward to April of this year. We used our FR Grey Wolf 26JDSE for a month long trip thru Michigan in September, and then in October for two weekends. We decided we'd like a bigger unit with a slide or two, so we started back at our original dealer. After we found a couple of RVs that were to our liking, we started talking numbers. THEIR offer on our 2021 trade-in was $18K. We'd made, oh, 7 payments on the loan, so we started looking at payoff, which was still about $25K, but included a hefty prepayment penalty! SO I said, no way, I played that game years ago with car dealers wanting to 'roll' that difference into the new loan. I flat out told them I was going to pay cash, and the $37, 995 sale price on the RV we liked jumped in price to about $40, 500! So we walked, even though we were return customers. The RVs were not exactly flying off the lot. We returned a few times, comparing it to other RVs we'd seen a other dealers, etc. Now, they did promise to honor the $38K price, even though newer units were going to be coming it at a higher price (all 2022s). SO I tried to sell our Grey Wolf privately, first listing it for about $27K, but then dropped the price to what we wed on it (including payoff penalty). Now the finance guy told me he didn't know about the prepayment penalty when I mentioned it him one of the times we came back. In any case, we nearly pulled the trigger on a couple of other ones at other dealers but ultimately liked the Coachmen Cataline Legacy 323BHDSCKLE. So they were 'nice' to kinda hold it back for us (whether they actually did or just didn't have a buyer, I don't know). Well, on May 3rd, we had a hail storm roll thru here, and the Grey Wolf got peppered on the back by some hail hits (not really a lot). I turned it into the insurance company (Foremost), and ultimately they chose to total it out after a couple of weeks or so. As we had "guaranteed replacement value" in our policy ($60 a year extra), they were prepared to pay up to 120% of the original purchase price of the Grey Wolf. I went back to my dealer and asked them for a current quote to buy a new identical model and they gave me a purchase agreement for $32K and some change. They paid off US BANK (no prepayment penalty) and we got a check for $6K more than what we owed on it. LOL.

SO now we went back a couple of times in June to see the RV we liked and were still comparing. Our salesman was a great guy who we liked, so he was patient. He did finally call me the first week of July and said he didn't want to pressure us BUT their other dealership an hour or so away had a buyer for the Catalina and could we come in and purchase it. Now that was on a Thurs afternoon, and we had one more dealership to check out that was about 2 hrs from our house. So I told him we were going to the other dealership and if we didn't opt to purchase anything there I would call him Friday and if I told him we were gonna buy it then my word is binding to me and we would buy it. Anyways, we drove to the other dealership (Camping World, used to be Top Raper in Richmond IN). WE saw several ones that were nice and even had a top of the line 2021 Rockwood that was barely used for $38K. We nearly grabbed that but it had a small bunkroom (we needed a bigger one) and no outdoor kitchen. SO our salesman from our original dealer called me and I told him we were mulling it over - and we were gonna go eat first and what time would be good to call him back. He said he needed to know by 8 pm because the guy was coming in the morning to pick up the Catalina and take it back to their other dealership. He said they'd still honor the $38K price. So we finished up about 8:15 pm, and I called him and said "We'll do it, however, I'm going to pay cash and I'm not gonna pay that extra $2500 because the other dealers didn't play that way. So he called me back a little later and said OK, so the next day we went into buy it. We did not opt to buy the $4000 5 year extended warranty. We did not pay for the interior spray as we'll scotchguard it ourselves. The outside paint thing, that is supposed to prevent black streaks, I didn't buy because it DID NOT prevent black streaks on the Grey Wolf. I now have THREE separate decent companies competing for our Extended Warranty business (for about $2500). Anyways I cut them a check for $44, 482 and we got it. SORRY this is a long story but it needed to be told.

The folks at Haylett seem to be straight shooters.
I never pay for any add-ons when buying vehicles. Biggest joke was when a Ford dealership tried to sell me gap insurance for an F150 I bought for 30% below MSRP; they just looked funny when I told them that there is not such a thing as gap when you buy a vehicle at such a discount.

I’m slowly going through the process of figuring out what RV to buy. Gotta say, I live in NY and I would drive to buy from you. Your videos, outside of being funny, are the most informative I have seen. Thank you for your time and efforts, very much appreciated.

I appreciated Jeff when I bought my RV from Haylett.
He answered all my questions, mentioned all the things he needed to, got the paperwork wrapped up, and I was out the door with my new Haylett RV ball cap. 👍
Yes, I plan on making the 500 mile trip up there for the next go around.
