I was 18. Finally away from them. After a session with my shrink on "The Art of Loving" (which I never got from them), I starting walking the long way to the dorm (self-financed). I passed a movie marque and decided on the spot to see something called "A Man and A Woman." For me, this was an incredible film, an incredible synchronicity. Sill haunts me decades later. 1969 was the year I paid three times to see "Alfie" (a feat never repeated), a movie that was a template of my life to come. How did I know? My biggest love came from a little dog (see movie). 1969 was such a great time for movies: The Graduate, Bonnie & Clyde, Easy Rider.... Can you imagine an 18 year old boy going to see grown-up movies in 2024? They don't even make grown-up movies in 2024. 18 year olds don't want to see them; 18 year olds don't want to grow up.

Love this film! I was sixteen when first I saw it in a fondly remembered cinema. It was one of twelve or so films between 1973 and 1974. Just seeing the trailer makes me want to see it again.
