Product Spotlight: Abe Laboriel Jr. Signature

Abe Laboriel Jr.'s signature stick is one of the biggest in our catalog, but it doesn't feel heavy around the drums. The length and diameter give Abe the durability and huge sound he demands while an extra long taper provides a quick response off the drums and cymbals.

Fuck, 4-5 times a show? Man I didn't know you could be that much of a beast.

The man is a genius. He uses a left sided double pedal so that he can fit those extra deep toms in nice and low without any sound interference from the giant kick drum. Gobsmackingly clever

He awesome, very intellectual yet laid back. Not to mention an UNBELIEVABLE drummer obviously.

interesting that he's got drums of several different finishes. a friend who recorded a project involving abe during his Berklee tenure in 1991 said he came to the studio with similar 'mismatched' drums. he said they were gifts from Jeff Porcaro who was his drum teacher at one time.

Interesting set-up. Of course, that's why he's one of my favorite drummers. I can't wait to get my hands on his stick

I also used to play with a kick drum on the left and a reverse double bass pedal. It was nice. The slower foot (in my case the left) got the advantage of the main pedal, and the stronger foot (right) got to work off the slave. It felt very even. Plus it looked really cool, too!

You should post just the performance. I would love to see it.
Abe is one of my faves.

Also, I would love a thinner version of this stick.
17" length, long taper, 5B diameter
The Abe Jr. - Jr. That would be awesome.

changing snare heads 4 times a show? I guess he WAS hitting pretty hard....holy drumsticks!

@gmorton731 I agree with that statement, but I have always found Paiste cymbals lack a certain "give" in general. Don't get me wrong, they sound great and it's all down to taste (isn't everything?) but I know of a lot more broken Paiste 2002's than Sabian AA or Avedis Zildjian cymbals.

3 or 4 heads a show? thats fucking madness..

@leeyatding No, he just felt like with the 28" bass drum, his posture was suffering. This setup puts his toms much lower in order to improve his posture.

Four head changes in a show? that'salittleouttacontrol. Glad the new sticks are improving that situation.
