Here’s a tip I used as a child if someone asks if my parents are home-

If someone is at your door and they ask if your parents are home, don’t tell them they aren’t home. Instead say they are in the bathroom/busy. If you tell them they aren’t they might think your home alone and that could be dangerous for you if they know. hope that helps! also turning on a tv and keeping the volume up can deter anyone if they have bad intentions :)

ANY time I am in public with my mom and I ask to walk to look at something alone, she always says “You know what to do.” I was taught from a very young age that if ANYONE grabs you/touches you, MAKE A SCENE. Scream at the top of your lungs. People will hear and most likely come help you. It’s better to scream and overreact when it was a misunderstanding than be unsure and get hurt.

These are so great and helpful, but isn't it so heartbreaking that we need these?

My best friends aunt was targeted by Ted Bundy. He started hitting on her and it didn’t click that he was creepy until he asked if she was alone. She said “oh no I’m here with my boyfriend and father. They’re just over there.” He kept hitting on her until another woman noticed and said she knew her and they walked away. That women and those words saved her life.

Tip- if u see anyone getting followed/attacked/anything like that, pretend you know them! Someone did this to me once and if not for them, I might not still be here.

1:00 here's a tip,

Make a small curtain for the inside so that whoever is outside can't remove it and whoever is inside can just slide sideways without a hassle.

I applaud all the tips, but it's sad that in our society women still have to walk around [especially alone] feeling afraid and nervous. We really need to take action.

A few excellent tips that can be helpful if you're shopping:
1. Don't park next to a vehicle with a large trunk, or back area. If someone with that kind of vehicle parks next to you, consider asking a worker at the store to escort you.
2. If you feel like someone is looking at you, give them the stare down. If they know that you are fully aware of their presence they no longer have an advantage. If you are in your car or even still in the store... You can always let them have a little hint to back off. Showing them that 911 is ready to be pressed on your phone... Or the panic/alert button/ horn on your car can be booped in a second.
3. If you are going to be driven by an uber, keep OFF YOUR PHONE. Indulge in conversation or let them know you are prepared to defend yourself by giving little hints. Keep a screenshot of your parent/ guuardians' call ID thingy up because it's more convincing for a fake call. Say things like "Yes I brought my pepper spray." Or "Mhm, I brought the self defense thing."
4. If you feel uncomfortable, that is your body telling you something is wrong. If you see someone following you, take out your phone and be ready with the 911 number up. Have your finger over the call button and put the phone behind your back so they can see. If they know that you're fully aware of their presence they'll most likely leave you alone. Don't let them find your house! *If they know where you live it can be 10x more dangerous.*
5. Just stay safe! Try your hardest to not be alone in a potentially dangerous setting... And stay alert. This world can be dangerous. I hope these tips help! Love you! ❤

Once when I was like 8 my mom and my brother went to the supermarket, my dad was in a business trip so I was home alone, I saw a white van outside and heard someone say that my dad owed them a large amount of money, my dad didn’t owe anyone money, I turned all the lights off, hid under the couch, and called my mom, she came home right away, idk what those people wanted, but it was terrifying

I like how the first girl said boys can use this to because people need to realize men also don’t feel safe

A few tips I learned forever ago:

If you have a GPS, program “home” as a church, grocery store, school, or common building near your house that you know your way home from. This way, if someone steals your car, they won’t know what your address is too.

When traveling, never take all your money out at once. If someone sees you pulls out a big stack of bills, they’re more likely to rob you than if you pull out a couple to pay for something.

Never post pictures DURING your trip, especially if you live alone and especially if you have public accounts. If someone knows where you live, they know that you’re not home and might rob you. Always post when you get home.

If you’re in a taxi, uber, etc. and are headed home but don’t feel comfortable, give them the address of a house a few down from you or even a block away and walk from there.

Install an automatic light outside your doors. People are less likely to rob you at night if a light comes on while they’re trying to break in.

Try to park directly under lights. Most people won’t abduct you if they can easily be seen by other people passing by.

Please stay safe!

My mom taught me to ALWAYS take a pic of the license plate b4 getting in, send it to her, and then take a pic of the driver's driving card (that is on display), and make sure the face in the card and irl matches b4 entering. And send her the pic of the license plate b4 entering and the card after.
You can also share live location with your parents so they can track you and also make sure to check the handle and window if it can be opened.
Now, my mom now no longer does this but now that I remember, make sure the window is not on child lock and you can open the window and door. Look for the door handle as well.
Best to open the window b4 getting in and if you can't open it, ask them to unlock the child lock or wait for another taxi.
It doesn't take long to do. And if the driver is sus, ask them to drop you off in a busy street and call someone when you're still in the car. Immediately tell them where you are, who you're with, and in what vehicle. My mom did this when she sus that the driver was either a pervert or has a genital disease of some sort. She did it casually like, "Hi, sis. Yeah, I'm currently in (location) with a driver. The name is (name of driver) and he is driving a (car type). Ya ya, we're on our way to (destination) but we're still in (current location). But I still have something to do so imma drop off somewhere in (big street/places like banks and such with security and traffic)." The driver immediately became a lot less sus. She also called my dad (she called her friend first because my dad was driving when she first called so he didn't pick up).
This applies to both genders because my male and female seniors didn't check and they went missing for a few days. Thankfully, they found them u harmed. They were robbed but not raped and the kidnapping didn't last too long, I think. But the male case was worse because he went missing for over a week and she was found within a week. We were just glad that they didn't rape them/physically harm them.

You can also bring a lighter with hairspray so you can burn them :)

this is absurd like i actually have chills. i’ve never felt like i had to be this prepared to such situations. my parents always taught me the most important safety tips but i’ve never really used them because i live in a very safe country in europe. wish everyone to be safe.

Pls, before buying any type of self-defense product like tasers, pepper sprays or small blades, read which type of them are allowed in your country/area since you might end in trouble if police stops you and sees them (I learnt this in the tough way) if they are banned/not allowed (as an example, in Spain you aren't allowed to carry a taser bought from internet and kitty knuckles are banned because they are a type of brass knuckes).

But I'm not saying you can't *_wink wink_* and keep yourself safe!

Wait actually, use gorilla glue on the mans eyes instead of hairspray, really glue their eyes shut so they can’t see. 😍

Mah GREATEST TIPS!
1. If you think someone is following you, keep looking at them. Don't run and don't go in the other direction, just don't stop and walk right next to someone else, it works
