Now I know why days are longer in summer and shorter in winter. Thanks

WHAT? Summer happens when the half (North or South) of the Earth is more tilted toward the Sun. When the Northern hemisphere is in summer, the Southern hemisphere is in winter. Read a science book.

Partially correct... It's the atmosphere & atmospheric pressure that regulates the temperature. In summer the desert of the Namibia is blistering hot whereas there is snow at the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

WOW I didn't know that 😊
Thank you for your video that was good

We are roughly 93m miles away from the sun in northern hemisphere when we experience summer. We are roughly 91m miles away when it's winter. For the southern hemisphere, it's flipped.

I knew this, but I had forgotten the names,
The moon does this also, it is what causes the tides .

My 12 year old son already knew that, but not me 😅

Its not the distance its just the tilt! That's why summer season varies in different hemispheres

I did.learnt it in my navigation class

Incomplete as summer and winter are interchanged in northern hemisphere and southern hemisphere

That's not what I was taught. Where did you get this information?

Wrong. When it's winter in the northern hemisphere it's summer in the southern hemisphere and vice versa. Nothing to do with distance from the sun. All to do with the angle of the axis of the earth.

Common sense tells me that you are wrong on this.. 🤔
After further investigation, I had to come back to my comment and update... yes you are right. Thanks for the lesson 😎👍

The explanation is bogus. Because it does no differentiate between summer and wintertime on the southern and northern hemisphere.
The distance does not lead to better coverage, considering the size of the sun this does not matter anyways.
Summer and winter are a product of the earth being tilted and the angle of the sunrays with regards to the ground. Summer in the nothern hemisphere: big angle, the sunrays hit the ground closer to 90°. In the winter the angle is much lower, as the sun hits the southern hemisphere.
Or easier to understand: in summer 1m² of light hits an area with roughly 1m². In winter, 1m² of light hits maybe 2 or more square meters. Same amount of energy on bigger area means less energy density.
