Just a tip for those coming around here. The rear main is in a plate that you're cleaning at 7:13. This plate has an o-ring behind it sealing a passage that comes from the oil pump. It is another source of oil leaks. If you're that deep into the engine, you really ought to remove that plate and replace the o-ring behind it. Replace the rear main in the plate, RTV/Hondabond and reinstall it. It's literally just a few more bucks for even more peace of mind.

I hope I never have to do this. (Pay someone to do so)

Wow, what a big job that is. On my 2006 RL with 130K miles, I have a VERY SLOW oil leak that ends up dripping off the tip of my oil drain screw. The drain screw is good, not cross threaded and I use new crush washer with each change, and there is a an oil "trail" going straight up to what looks like the Oil Pump area. I've never actually seen a drop drip from the drain screw and there is no oil on the garage floor but it always seems to have a small accumulation the size of a drop that just won't let go...maybe it only happens while driving? Anyway, could this be a main seal leak? If not, where would I see the leak from a main seal (around that black metal door/access panel?) I had what was diagnosed as a leaky oil pan 3 yrs ago. They dropped the pan, put new RTV or Honda Sealant on it and bolted it back on again...could that be leaking again? Other than seeing oil in certain areas, is there another way to diagnose for a faulty oil pump seal? Thanks in advance for any help.

You need to slow down if you get paid by the hour. Wish you were closer to do mine.

Cool vid man, was wondering about having to remove the end of transfer/differential for subframe to drop. This was helpful, tackling this tomorrow have to change out bent subframe on my 07 ridge

Quick question. When you dropped the subframe what mounts did you take down with it?

My 2006 Ridgeline rear main seal just started leaking at 263, 000 miles. What did that job cost your customer?

What are those Tires. Very cool. I have a 06' Ridgeline too. with the leveling kit. They would be badass.

Bro, I have the 06 Ridgeline, I think it would be way easier to just take out the engine from the top n just leave the transmission in the car.

Wow lots of work just to repair the rear seal. How much did it cost?

I wish you would do that on my Ridgeline

Hey just a quick question... why didn't the engine fall out when you removed the subframe? You weren't using an engine support bar and I didn't see any chains.

QUESTION BROTHER/ what is the contraption at the rear right bottom of the engine compartment.. It attaches to the steering axle and has a rubber boot on the bottom. Mine is pissing and can't figure our what it is. Thanks. I do have the RTL with traction control.

That's a lot of stuff to remove to get to that seal. How long did it take to remove and put everything back together? How how many miles did you put on engine before the seal went bad? Thinking of getting the new ridgeline but everything is so tightly packed in engine bay that working on it might be a nightmare. On a rear drive truck, replacing that seal would be much easier.

It would have to be a serious leak before I’d go to that extreme!

heck of a lot of work just for a $10 seal!
