MY FIRST DSM 1999 ECLIPSE , HELP!

Something’s to know about your car, if you look at the sticker on the frame next to the battery, it will give you details about the car like the engine type etc. Your car has a naturally aspirated SOHC 4G64.

For the convertible top:
- DSM Thunder on YouTube made a video on how to replace it.
- for now just throw some towels over the windows and close the doors with the towels on it to absorb any leaks

For the seats:
- Check offer up, sometimes people sell oem seats in decent condition for cheap or you can get bucket seats for 3-400 but I wouldn’t worry about that.

Mechanically:
- Do maintenance on the engine first
—> spark plugs and wires
—> oil change and oil filter
—> new gas and fuel filter
—> flush cooling system and use new 50/50 antifreeze coolant
—> new radiator cap
—> Replace all fluids, check for any leaks (oil, coolant, vacuum leaks)

Next make a video of you turning the car on and record how the car sounds and let us know if the engine needs any mechanical work. If it runs fine, then we can talk about boost.

Power
- In terms of boosting the engine your engine is a sohc 4g64 and doesn’t have much power. If you want power, you’re gonna have to swap in a 4g63 turbocharged engine that also came with these cars and boost the power on that instead.

Your biggest mistake was buying that car. You should get a GS-T or GSX to begin with. Don't waste any money on that car because you will end up spending more money than you think. Just keep it the way it is and drive it till the wheels fall off.
