In the white-knuckle action movie PLANE, pilot Brodie Torrance (Gerard Butler) saves his passengers from a lightning strike by making a risky landing on a war-torn island - only to find that surviving the landing was just the beginning. When most of the passengers are taken hostage by dangerous rebels, the only person Torrance can count on for help is Louis Gaspare (Mike Colter), an accused murderer who was being transported by the FBI. In order to rescue the passengers, Torrance will need Gaspare’s help, and will learn there’s more to Gaspare than meets the eye.

Jolo Island in the Province of Sulu is one of the most dangerous places in the southernmost of the Philippines. This small island in the Sulu Sea is the base for Abu Sayyaf, an infamous group of rebels that are known to kidnap tourists for ransom, often targeting American citizens.

It was mentioned in the trailer that the Filipino army don't wanna go there anymore. But in reality, Jolo is a heavily militarized island. There are about 5, 000 Philippine troops there, most of them concentrated near the town center.

Anyways, Gerard Butler is one badass actor! 🔥 Can't wait for this!

My goodness this movie is a perfect package of action, suspense and pace! We thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish. One of those films that keeps you on the edge until the last minute and makes you whistle and cheer for the survivors when credit rolls! Gerald Butler killed it once again. He is so apt for such badass roles.

Great straight forward movie. I love it. I feel safe during the entire movie knowing that Gerard Butler is there. I love that the plot is quite simple. No conspiracy what so ever. No traitor. Its just simply the good guys vs the bad guys.

Randomly picked this movie from " movies on demand ", Butler and Colter nailed thier roles perfectly. The movie was very well done, good action and gun battles. It was fast paced and never had a dull moment, the reviews had 94% with the popcorn icon. Good production, good filming, the acting and script was very well done. From the Actors that only had a few lines, to the main characters, I was impressed.

Watched the film today, and as a Filipino and a tagalog speaker, i was giggling at the hostage takers coz of their slang tagalog accent. Apparently they hired filipino american actors for the movie. But nonetheless, the movie is great and I enjoyed it! Such a shame, our senators here in PH wanted to ban this movie on PH theaters. It’s a fictional movie. Truth be told, They just can’t accept the fact that hostage taking actually happens on those areas of the PH. Just those areas though. Never been there, no plans of going there. But hey, Philippines is such a beautiful country. Nature and people are our treasure. And just like any other countries, has its own flaws and imperfections we can’t hide.

As a Filipino, it's just somewhat funny to hear that Jolo is pronounced as 'J' as in DJOLO, instead of the common pronunciation of HOLO as in 'H'.

Just watched this on Amazon Prime. What a great movie. Gerard Butler's pilot was such a clutch guy. Incredible pilot, saved the passengers, and took out the kidnappers. He was fully in his Lebron 2012 v Celtics / Kobe 70 point game mode.
