twist your lemon first before you wipe your glass and you’re gonna get more fragrant rim . If you do it after the vodka sport in the glass, you scent the vodka as well.

See I'm not a drinker, I don't think a martini is pure vodka

That is not a Martini. That is an incredibly dry Vespa. Change the vodka for gin, swirl your glass with vermouth, then pour out the vermouth so the glass is just coated with it. Then pour in your very cold, and carefully stirred with ice, gin. Add an olive (or two, preferably an olive stuffed with anchovies)... and THEN you have a Martini. Add a splash of the olive brine to make it a Dirty Martini, and it is simply delicious. Done
