Maya Weaver

Rare footage filmed in the mountains of Chiapas a Mayan woman proudly displays the skill and dexterity of an expert weaver. The Maya are usually extremely hesitant to allow themselves to be photographed. Traditional Maya designs can represent universal themes like the sun, moon, or stars. In some cases the designs can represent a distinct community or tribe and in some cases the signature of a highly esteemed weaver.
