1937 Siare Radio ( Italian) evaluation and minimal fix

This radio has a story to tell. Donated to our museum by the daughter of the parents who bought it new in Italy, she told us of stories of her parents listening to this radio with the blackout curtains drawn during WW2 fascist Italy. They listened as the war raged and as Mussolini fell. A radio that has seen a lot. A radio to remind and warn us of what happens when those kinds of people take over a country. A lesson we should all remember.

“Sometimes I think there’s something wrong with my meter.”

Only every other episode. 😂

Hello. This Radio has a power plugg that we use in Finland. Regards Stig Österberg from Dalsbruk in Finland.

Interesting about the plug. I had an East German shortwave radio and for curiosity I just plugged it into 110v with a Radio Shack travel plug kit. It worked perfectly on 110 volts for years without changing the input voltage selector because it didn't have one. I gave it to a friend from Poland a few years ago.

88 yrs old and the cabinet looks like it was kept in a very nice home with no kids. I can imagine what price a radio went for on that Era. Seth feel better.

If by changing the tap for the voltage change, this radio may have not played here in the USA.

Nice radio, I like the cabinate look, so symetrical which is what Italian designers like.🐞

The styling is very like radios made here in the UK in the 30s and 40s . Similar to Marconi and hmv .

Even sick you work on radios. I couldn't, I'd be in bed recuperating as quickly as possible. Good radio to do minimal fix to
get it working. Good catch on the power tab selector changing it to 120 Volts. That may be why it didn't work here in the
USA. The cover plate is missing but someone at the museum probably can make one for safety sake. Mama mia!
