Interconnect Billing – Telecommunication

There are many types of billings in Telco including prepaid, postpaid, interconnect, roaming and so on. In order to get the idea of interconnect billing; we need to understand the key terms as below:

- Interconnect: the connection between a carrier’s facilities and the equipment belonging to its customers or to a connection between two or more carriers (phone operators). It’s also the process of handling calls for other service providers.
- Billing: a process of collecting usage, aggregating it, applying required usage and rental charges and finally generating invoices for customers for retail charging and for interconnect partners as wholesale charging.

Thus, what is Interconnect Billing?
- Interconnect Billing: the process of collecting usages (Voice, SMS, MMS) and generating invoices to operators for interconnect charging.
