It's such a fascinating subject and so few people know how it works.
Thank you for making it available to show everyone.

I'm 57 and in the U.S.. though I wasn't able to watch this as a kid it still feels so familiar.
I've come to really enjoy this. I think I appreciate it more now than I would've as a kid.
Thank you guys.

Great channel.

So this cannot count millions if years. What has carbon dating material in it can only be thousands of year's old. Fascinating...

And there I was thinking that Carbon Dating were two carbon atoms that just started seeing each other. (Come on people! This joke was funny in high school back in the 80's and 90's.)

Great video thank you.

I am curious… How do they work out what the “number of rays” is for an object when it is alive? Especially if it’s for an object like a woolly mammoth where we don’t have alive ones to compare against?

I never understood until now. Why aren't there still shows like this on TV??

Wow, I actually learnt something new, and I have been living over 50 years and thought I was intelligent enough to know how carbon dating works, thanks guys.

I never realised how easy Carbon dating was! Realising that you work out the half-life "in reverse" makes so much sense ♥

But how does the carbon within the living organism know when it’s died such that it starts (slowly) reducing the number of rays per hour?

This is a lesson for the ages (😂). I will share it widely. Thank you for it.

If making a fossil involves the organic material being replaced by minerals over time, how does the carbon from the organic material stay behind?

They tried it on my mother-in-law, but there wasn't enough radiation to show she was ever alive.

How accurate or inaccurate can carbon dating be? Isn't it based on average values? I loved this video.
