Going back to percentage increase/decrease.
Let x=100%
If you increase x by 25% you'll get 170
125x/100 = 170
x = (170*100)/125
x = 136 m

Now THAT's a long and winded version for just calculating 170/1.25 = 136. Oh my.

No but i'm still confusing.

In the problem we can read that " Keisha can run 170 meters in one minute this is 125% of distance that she could run 3 years ago in one minute"

And then we should find: How far Keisha can run in one minute 3 years ago (AGAIN) ? so if 3 years ago she could run 170 meters in one minute does it means that right now she can do the same result right now? and okay, why do we need find same measures if we already know that 170 metes in 1 minute?

It's much accurate to write problem that we should find in another way, for example " How far Keisha can run in one minute for 100% distance"?
And then there is at least 2 solutions
1 = 170/125 = 1, 25 = 136
Or make the common denominator to 100 divide 170/125 by 1, 25 means 136/100 or 135 meters for 100% distance

or you could just make an equation: x*1, 25 = 170 --> x = 170/1, 25 = 136

I guess it's only 25% more the distance, not 125% more.
