Declan Dillon Connolly (Bodhran), Orla Felcey (Wooden Flute) and Maeve McGovern (Tenor Banjo) are all young musicians who grew up learning traditional Irish music at their local Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann Branch (Tara O'Carolan) in Manchester. All three of these young musicians have performed at fundraisers and dinner dances as members of the branch as well as all having competed in solo, trio, duet and band competitions as part of Comhaltas' Fleadh Cheoil (translates as "Festival of Music" the fleadhs are a series of gigs, events and sessions as well as competitions that span from regional levels to All Ireland).

In this track they play a set of two traditional reels, The Green Mountain into The Sally Gardens.

This track was recorded in a household kitchen that respresents a common performance space for musical sessions. In all aspects of folk, whether it's Irish, English, Scottish etc, musicians gathering in kitchens and living rooms are just as common as those in pubs. It is always an enjoyed atmosphere for both musicians and audiences to enjoy a few tunes, songs and stories that can go on til the early hours of the morning. Big thanks to Clare and John McGovern for allowing us to record in their kitchen as well as the support they have given throughout the project.

Ambedo Productions is a field recording company that takes the production out of the studio and into acoustically interesting locations. We record and film a variety of folk musicians in different spaces around England to capture music in natural and vibrant spaces. With some exciting recordings coming up throughout the month, we are working on putting together a debut CD of all the gorgeous spaces and musicians to showcase the alternative recording techniques.

The word 'Ambedo' means the feeling of being absorbed in vivid sensory details which is something we are hoping to represent through our productions, presenting how different environments influence different pieces of music.

Terrific! Ditto the acoustics of the recording, which really bring out the rhythms.
