Tbh I think it would’ve been better as a series. It needed to be fleshed out more, I would’ve loved to have known more about the virtues, where the girls came from (they kinda talked about it, but more background on it would’ve been better), and maybe some more action between the woman and the doctor.

I just finished this movie and I loved it! It was very reminiscent of the Handmaid’s Tale to me. And I disagree. I think they did a good job with suspense throughout. I felt like it constantly kept me guessing what was actually happening? And I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t what I was expecting. My mom said there has to be a place on Earth right now where this really happens.

With the real world the way it currently is, I'm all dystopiaed-out, and I know I'm not alone.

I don't think men will understand this movie. Living in a world that commodifies your beauty will make this movie hit differently. Nor will men likely understand the nuance of the relationships between the girls, the principal, and the "customers." I don't doubt that men find this movie "boring", they don't walk through this world with the same pressures.

Do you think the women in the tv giving the girls lesson, is Miss Brixil (after she got surgery, 16 years ago)

Watched it last night on Halloween and I loved it! Me and my family member pretty much figured out exactly what it was right away, but the uncertainty still made it interesting and suspenseful! I was thinking "is it what I think it is, or could be be something slightly different?" The only things I wished was different was that the gory part didn't look that scary to me ? It looked like red paint tbh. Like to be honest I was expecting it to look extremely disturbing like titans from AoT or something. Not a big deal tho. I mainly just wish they added a little more to the ending. It felt like it ended a bit too abruptly. Like, I would have liked to see the main characters and the other girls rejoice together and maybe see a scene or two of them being in an actual loving adoptive family to feel that sense of closure after the resolution. But that's it, its a really great movie imo.

I watched this last month. Largely I agree with you, especially on the lost potential, and the ending.
I liked it little bit more, but I don't disagree with anything you said.
Btw, I am so happy to see you approaching the 25K. I was watching you since the days you had 1K or 2K.
The only reason I am commenting less is because I don't watch as much TV/Movies since I gone back to my first love- Reading.
I am liking though your new show with Ruben :)

I figured it out from the beginning but it was still DEEPLY interesting because of the subtlety and nuance. I appreciated that it wasn’t mindless gore, but a deeply intricate web of survival politics and played deeply into exaggerating the themes of what women go through

I loved the movie inspite of knowing the plot. I found it extremely triggering and the last scene was an awesome closure. If you watch it as a suspense or thriller, you won't enjoy it as much, because it is neither. It's an emotional story. Like you would enjoy it only if you can relate to it.
The feminine virtue talks, how the sponsor will pay any price for someone younger, even though his wife doesn't care, the brain washing about being clean etc, I was completely triggered throughout the movie and loved the ending.

Watched it yesterday (german) and totally liked the idea. The cold, threatening atmosphere is captured very well. I had not expected the twist plot near the end, I liked it. Very solid movie!

So Netflix cuts a check for an "original". Unlike Game of Thrones where set-pieces could run into the six figures, they create a world with a single set-piece...🤑. And that is how Producers pay for their Beverly Hills lifestyles.

I’m super curious but not watching. Are they in space? Underground ? Is it a dream? Just going to wait for somebody to post a spoilers review.

I think he should write his own story. Is that just me?

This movie frustrates me, it was so close to being great! Honestly this is one of those movie where if they turned it into a twelve episode series, I wouldn't be mad at it.

I think that movie was using a disgustingly real topic, so it was a bit shocking to me in an uncomfortable way. I think things like this are most likely happening irl, so it was kind of hard to watch, and now I feel a bit "icky" for having finished it.

Another good Katie Douglas movie I saw on Lifetime and it was called the Abduction of Lisa McVey I thought she did pretty good

I was engaged through the whole movie. Thought it was really good. I didn’t see the actual twist coming (they had to hint at it many times then spell it out for me)
