But CustomerID is consider as dimension as it have no.s though it’s considered as dimension. So calling only number is not reasonable.

You know... I've been wondering about this for like a really long time and I always suspected this but was super confused why nobody would just say it this way. Maybe this isn't accurate 100% of the time but, come on, this has GOT to be correct 99% of the time :) Thanks so much!

So wrong! All numbers aren't measures. Measures are things you want to MEASURE (find avg, median, trend line). Emp Number in the video is a Dimension. Since you don't want to take an average employee number, it's therefore a Dimension.

Simplest explanation? Unfortunately, it’s *_over_* simplified, and quite misleading in 2 ways:
● Most importantly, employee number is a *_dimension, _* not a measure (as stated near 0:44). It wouldn’t be meaningful to aggregate employee number with SUM() or similar, as would be the case if it was a measure. (And if you open a data source containing a field called something like _Emp Number, _ Tableau’s smart enough to treat it as a dimension – these days at least; can’t speak for the version back in 2016.)
● Tableau uses blue and green to distinguish between discrete and continuous values (not between dimensions and measures). That becomes apparent when you right-click on a field and choose to convert between discrete and continuous – the colour changes to blue or green to match your choice.

What about all my data is number? ....no dimensions then?
