Created by Neuro Acting founder Bryan Bounds, this video introduces you to the 'General' Alabama accent. NOTE TO ALABAMIANS: The world loves your accent and yes, admittedly, I'm going over the top with it, but it's a very effective way to learn an accent by pushing the envelope of the vocal changes in order to develop the muscle memory. Then with practice, you can bring it back to a more conversational level.

I live in Alabama and I thought this was so funny because I never noticed we sounded like this, so it's so true!!! Haha!!

I am from north Alabama. We do have accents but this is a southern movie accent he is doing. He is amplifying our accent. That's how we can tell a fake southern accent. This sounds too funny to me and I am one of the people with a deep southern Alabama accent.

As someone born and raised in Alabama, it's so nice to hear our accent in a positive way :)

Great presentation. Growing up in rural Mobile, Alabama, this definitely represents the common tongue for the bulk of he people. After college, I moved Chicago and beyond, the one part of my Alabama accent which remains is the dropping of the g in ing. It takes a dedicated brain training and I continue to slide back into the accent when I become relaxed. Networkin, Debuggin, Routin, Programmin, etc. Beyond that, the only other indication is a slower delivery than anyone else.

Go to isolated communities in eastern Tennessee, western North Carolina, southwest Virginia, eastern Kentucky, and southern West Virginia. Those are some seriously thick accents!

This is awesome! I'm playing a role of an Alabaman in a month and need to learn the accent. I've been watching lots of videos but this one is by far the best. I'll be watching this a lot in the weeks ahead! Thank you so much!

Great. Thank you. I'm a linguist, love to play with languages. Lately I been having fun especially with Irish and with southern American accents. Just recently discovered the connections between the two. <3

AL accent is a god send for learning the "go-to country / western" accent being the most iconic and thus the easiest to learn for foreigners, trying to mimic a "typical american" (for whatever reason it might be). 😉👍😎
