Because there are so many layers of rhythms in Salsa, this is a great teaching tool for the beginner. After listening to a lot of different Salsa, there are 2 things I try to listen for to get the beat. The first is the steady sound of the clave. The second is for 2 quick pah-pah sounds on the conga. I find that the "1" count immediately follows that pah-bah. You can definitely hear it in this song.

This is perfect for a beginners class to listen to and start hearing the rhythm. The first few weeks for me were rough until I started listening to salsa all the time. Now there is only the really odd song with crazy polyrhythms that I can't get.
