Today we take a look at some orchids that you guys want an update on!
🦋 More info below! 🦋

2. Potinara Burana Beauty is a very vigorous hybrid, she is growing great!

3. Potinara Fu Shu Glory 'Happy Holidays' is also doing great, no buds in sight yet.

5. Phalaenopsis violacea, just like the other summer blooming species are waiting for the warm season to bloom!

6. My Zygopetalums are still around and doing fine! One apparently had crown rot, but it's not a lost cause :)

7. Phalaenopsis Sun Pasat is looking fabulous, but barely blooms. She was part of an experiment with low light and I drew some great conclusions!

8. Vanilla planifolia is not doing anything different from our last update :)

9. Dendrobium cuthbertsonii, not a request, but a pretty one!

Which orchids do you want an update on next?

Most zygopetalums are heavy feeders and some growers add osmocote fertilizer which is a slow release granule/ball/pellet into their medium as well as on top. I saw this tip after repotting mine so I’m just sprinkling some on top this year to see how it goes.

What a great day today is ! :) I just saw one of the new roots of my zygopetalum ! I repotted him some months ago in terrestrial mix and I had no clue what he was planning to do ! It seems he want's to stay with me ! :) He will be ok ! I am so happy !

Hi Danny! Updates on your Neos and Sedirea Japonica would be much appreciated! :) I've recently been growing these species, but haven't made it through a full year yet, I'm in eager to hear about your success with them.

Hi, Danny! Hope you'll have a nice week ahead! The spring brings problems related to fungus gnats, spiders and mites. I know you have already showed us your mineral oil DYI solution, but the insects are more sttuborn every spring.

Ok, now my boy-friend wants a zygopetalum like yours🤣 Who am I to say no?
It has been orchid shopping sunday yesterday at the annual fair near us and I came back with a bellina Apple Red, violacea coerulea, sedirea japonica minmaru, phaphiopedilum delenatii anja, RSC village Chief north Little spirit, a leptotes and a happy eagle joy. Unfortunately today I found out that the violacea has mealybug so I had to give all of them the specific treatment. Finger crossed 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 Now i have to go searching this zygopetalum...

I would love to see a video on flower spikes and the effect light has on their development, i have some of my western facing phals producing short flower spikes, research says too much light? But they are in bright shade. A few are first time bloomers, which could explain some of their behaviour but not all of them!

My fhu shu is also a slow grower, and it seems like fhu shu is not a large cattleya, and my violacea is also going to bloom, for the first time, and it has 2 spikes, growing at same time, and it is growing outside, so the heat is making it grow fast....and that zygo is gorgeous, i really like the fusion of purple in red...

Danni, could you give info on arundina bambusifolia, Hawaiian bamboo orchid? Just picked one up at the tropical botanical gardens on the big Island of Hawaii, cannot find videos on the bambusifolia variety. I understand they are easy to grow, however, any input you might have would be much appreciated. Thank you

Hi, Danny! I had a Zygo like yours and had 3 new growths, I was really, really careful with the watering, but after a while, got to be as 5-8 cm high, started to have that black thing kinda rotting out of nowhere in the middle 🤷🏼‍♀️ and slowly did the same thing on every each new growth 😒 I really have no idea why that happened. Hope yours won’t have the same problem... thank you for existing here and for every video that you make!! 👍👍👍
P.S.: May I kindly ask for some advices on all areas for Lycaste Aromatica, pls? I just bought one and has lots of flower spikes developing and 4 new growths, but the flower guy told me not to repot it nor water it cause will abort the flowers... it may be true? I didn’t find anything on the internet regarding this issue.

My Fusarium Vanda (removed the Fusarium part, which included all roots) is just ... there. I think it has grown about 1 cm of leaf in the last 3 months, but no hint of roots. :-/

I also have a Phal growing a terminal keiki (at least not terminal spike?) and one growing a keiki on its flower stem that *also* flowers from the stem. Two leaves and a bud, then another bud, and now it's growing a third leaf and a root, and still has a blossom. Never seen a Phal growing flowers from the stem, without a spike, before... Looks odd for certain.
